For the best results with Craig and Rose Eggshell Emulsion Paint, ensure surfaces to be painted are sound, clean, dry and free from any surface contaminants.
- Remove all loose and defective paint using a scraper, paint stripper or sanding, special care should be taken if removing pre 1960s paint as this could contain harmful lead
- Apply a filler to any cracks, holes or suface imperfections
- Sand the project area to produce a flat smooth surface, particularly on glossy finishes
- Apply a specialist stain blocking primer to heavily stained walls and ceilings
- Prime bare wood and other porous substrates with Craig and Rose 1829 All Purpose Undercoat
Always do a test area before starting any project to assess compatibility and consistency of the finish. Follow the manufacturer's instructions on the tin at all times.
- Stir thoroughly before and periodically during use, making sure to include pigment gathered in the top and bottom creases of the tin
- If being applied to plaster, dilute Craig and Rose 1829 Eggshell Paint by 5-10% to act as a mist coat before following on with two full coats
- Apply using a high quality, synthetic bristle brush, microfibre roller or airless spray system
- Most projects will only require 2 full coats, however further coats may be required if a strong colour change is needed
- Allow to dry for 4 hours between coats
When Craig and Rose 1829 Eggshell Paint is tired and in need of a refresh, simply apply a fresh coat to your project area using the preparation and application steps above.
