Craig and Rose Artisan Metallic Effect is a water-based paint that produces a metallic effect finish. Perfect for interior walls and ceilings, particularly suited to creating an attention grabbing feature wall. Also can be used for enhancing the trim on wooden furniture and joinery, such as window frames and mantels.
To achieve the best results, the surfaces need to be structurally sound, clean, dry and free from dirt, grit and grime.
- Remove any old, substandard or flaking paint either by sanding or through the use of a paint scraper
- Extra precautions will need to be taken when preparing surfaces that contain pre-1960s paint as they could contain harmful levels of paint
- Any organic growths such as mould, fungi or algal, will need to be cleaned away with a scouring pad and a bleach solution (1 part to 3 parts water)
- If necessary, wash the surface to remove any dust, dirt, oil or grease with a suitable detergent, rinse with clean water and allow to dry thoroughly
- Porous surfaces or new, dry plaster will need to be primed with Craig And Rose 1829 All Purpose Undercoat or a suitable alternative
Please Note: Craig And Rose Artisan Metallic Effect is not suitable for highly absorbent surfaces.
Always create a test area before the full application to judge the suitability and final finish of the product. Follow the manufacturer's instructions at all times.
To guarantee the consistency of the colour, if multiple tins have been purchased the mix together in a large container to ensure regularity of colour and tone.
Avoid applying if the air temperature or surface temperatures are likely to be close to freezing.
- Stir and blend the paint and the medium thoroughly, guaranteeing to work the sides and base of the tin to ensure consistency throughout the paint
- Before the full application, practice the technique on a separate piece of board or cardboard with your preferred method of application
- The first application needs to be with a medium nap roller to provide an initial texture to the application
- Whilst the paint is till wet, drag the brush across the surface to create random brush marks
- Work in small areas and overlap each area
- If Craig And Rose Artisan Metallic Effect is being applied by spray, then dilute the paint by 10%
- It could be necessary to apply 3-4 coats to gradually build up the effect
Please note: Avoid touching up the project area after the application as this will not match the original finish.
