To guarantee the consistency of coverage throughout the application, ensure enough Crown Trade Satin Finish is supplied for the project area
Do not apply if the air or surface temperatures are likely to be below 8&deg;C or to exceed 80% humidity
<ul>
<li>Blend and stir the paint, ensuring to work through the edges and bottom of the tin to provide an even dispersal of the pigment within the paint</li>
<li>Application can be performed with either a high quality short or medium pile roller or a good quality synthetic or bristle brush</li>
<li>The normal finishing process requires only 1 full coat of Crown Trade Satin Finish if it is used as an undercoat, but 2 or more coats are required if it is included as an overcoat</li>
</ul>
Please note: A characteristic of this product is that whiteness intensifies as the paint dries. Also, the sheen will reach its final level approximately 2 weeks after the application.

Painted surfaces can be gently wiped with a damp cloth to eliminate surface scuffs and marks.

Aftercare

Crown Trade Satin Finish is a high V.O.C paint designed for interior use on a wide range of surfaces, such as interior wood, metal and PVCu. With being applied by brush and providing good adhesion to the substrate, gives the benefit of a quick and easy application.

Overview

To achieve the best results it is important to guarantee the area is structurally sound, clean and dry, being free of any flaws or imperfections

<ul>
<li>Clean off any flawed, peeling and defective paint either by sanding or with the use of a paint scraper</li> 
<li>Extra care should be taken during the surface preparation of pre-1960s paint surfaces as they may contain detrimental levels of lead</li>
<li>Eliminate all organic growth, such as mould, algal lichen or fungal growths, with an antifungal mixture, such as <a href="/product/sandtex-fungicidal-wash" title="Sandtex Fungicidal Wash">Sandtex Fungicidal Wash</a></li>
<li>All oil, dirt, grease and dusty or powdery residues are required to be removed by washing the area with an appropriate detergent</li>
<li>Any imperfections, such as cracks and small holes or cavities, need to be be filled and fixed with a suitable filler and then sanded smooth</li>
<li>Clean any residue of dust or fragments of debris with washing and cleaning the project area by using a suitable detergent, then rinse with clean water and allow to fully dry</li>
</ul>
If being applied to a wooden surface, then the additional steps need to be applied:
<ul>
<li>Wooden products that have oils/extractives require cleaning with methylated spirits, frequently changing the face of the cloth, and treat any knots with two coats of fresh knotting</li>
<li>New or grey and denatured surfaces will need to be lightly sanded to provide a key for a suitable primer to grip to and provide strong adhesion</li>
<li>Any bare wood will need to be primed with a suitable wood primer followed by an appropriate undercoat, such as <a href="/product/crown-trade-full-undercoat" title="Crown Trade Full Undercoat">Crown Trade Full Undercoat</a> before the application to ensure a strong bind to the surface</li>
</ul>
If being applied to a metal surface, then the following additional steps need to be applied:
<ul>
<li>If being applied to new metal, excluding galvanised surfaces, then lightly abrade the surface and rinse clean. Then</li>
<li>On new bright galvanised surfaces, degrease the surface thoroughly and then pre-treat with a T wash solution</li>
<li>Non ferrous metals require a coat of a suitable metal primer to help Crown Trade Satin Finish adhere to the surface</li>
<li>Ferrous metals need to be stripped back to their original state with the removal of all surface rust and millscale, then apply a single coat of a suitable metal primer within the same working day</li>
<li>If the metal surface has been previously decorated, ensure any rust is removed, the edges of the paint are feathered, and the area washed clean and finally wet abrade the surface, rinse and allow to dry</li>
