Overview

Crown Trade Silk Vinyl Emulsion is a water-based, washable, silk emulsion for interior walls and ceilings. Very high opacity and high colour retention. Quick drying formula to complete the job in one day.

Preparation

For the best results, ensure the surfaces to be painted are sound, clean, dry and free from dirt, dust or any other surface contaminants.

Remove all loose and failing paint coatings with a scraper or sanding and take care in the preparation of pre-1960s surfaces as they could contain harmful amounts of lead
Wash away any dirt, grease or powdery residues with a mild detergent and allow this to dry before further treatment
Remove any mould or any other organic growth with a suitable mould and mildew cleaner, rinse with clean water and allow to dry
Fill any surface defects with a suitable filler, sand smooth and remove any sanding dust
Seal any powdery surfaces or any heavily stained surfaces with Crown Trade PX3 All Purpose Primer
Seal new porous bare surfaces with a thinned first coat of Crown Trade Emulsion, with up to 40% water

Application

Always do a test area before starting any project to assess product suitability. Always follow the manufacturer's instructions on the tin. Use only in well-ventilated areas.

Stir thoroughly before and during use, making sure to include pigment gathered in the top and bottom creases of the tin
Apply with a high-quality synthetic paint brush, microfibre roller or conventional spray system
The usual process is 2 full coats, however, further coats may be required if a strong colour change is required

Aftercare

When it's time for a refresh, apply a fresh coat of Crown Trade Silk Vinyl Emulsion as required, following the Preparation and Application instructions above.
