Dulux Trade Diamond Eggshell is the perfect all-rounder for the busy home. It's ideal for interior projects including wood, walls, ceilings, metal and even plaster and masonry. It's perfect for high traffic areas that require frequent cleaning as it contains stain repellent technology, preventing stains from setting into the surface, making clean up easier. It can also be used over areas previously decorated with solvent-based paints, providing proper surface prep is carried out. This achieves Class 1 ISO 11998 and Type C BS 7719 scrub ratings, meaning walls can withstand daily wear and tear and the finished job looks fresher for longer.
A professional finish with non-yellowing technology: if you're thinking of making the switch to water-based, this should be the option to consider!
- For a matt finish for interior walls and ceilings, see Dulux Trade Diamond Matt

Ensure that surfaces painted with Dulux Trade Diamond Eggshell Paint are clean, dry and free of dirt, dust and waxes and grease.
- Any holes, splits or other surface defects should be filled with a suitable filler
- For new or bare timber, sand out any surface imperfections, treat any knots in the wood with a knotting solution
- For painted timber, rub down with P120 sandpaper for a key on the surface to aid adhesion and remove any dust with a slightly damp lint-free cloth, special precautions should be taken during surface preparation of pre-1960s painted surfaces as they may contain harmful lead
- Where a strong colour change is required, or when over-coating a factory primed substrate, prime with Dulux Trade Quick Dry Undercoat
- For new or bare walls and ceilings, sand out any imperfections, remove all traces of sanding dust and seal surfaces with a thinned first coat of Diamond Eggshell Paint (up to 1 part clean water to 10 parts paint)
Always try a test area before starting any project to assess the suitability of the finish. Always follow the manufacturer's instructions on the tin.
- Stir thoroughly before and during use, making sure to include pigment gathered in the top and bottom creases of the tin
- Apply 2 coats of Diamond Eggshell using a good quality synthetic paint brush, microfibre roller or spray system
- Allow 4-6 hours between coats
- For significant colour changes, further coats may be required
Painted surfaces can be gently wiped down with a damp lint-free cloth to remove surface scuffs and marks.
When it's time for a refresh, apply a fresh coat of Dulux Diamond Eggshell using the Preparation and Application steps above.
