Dulux Trade Vinyl Matt Emulsion Paint is a durable water-based emulsion ideal for busy households and commercial environments. It's perfect for those walls and ceilings where regular emulsion just won't cut it. It's washable, too for when accidents inevitably happen.
Please note, despite Dulux Trade Vinyl Matt being a more durable option than standard emulsion, it's not suitable for areas that suffer from a lot of condensation, such as bathrooms with minimal ventilation.
- For a durable, silk emulsion, consider Dulux Trade Vinyl Silk Emulsion
- For a fashionable soft sheen option, see Dulux Trade Vinyl Soft Sheen
For best results, ensure surfaces to be painted are sound, clean, dry and free from dirt, dust or any other surface contaminants. For the best colour consistency, purchase sufficient paint for each project including enough for touching-in later. This will eliminate the subtle differences between batches of paint.
- Remove all loose and defective paint with a paint scraper by sanding or with a paint stripper
- Special precautions should be taken during surface preparation of pre-1960s paint surfaces as they may contain harmful lead
- Where necessary, wash the surface to remove dirt, grease and powdery or dusty residues, rinse with clean water and allow to dry
- Any surface defects should be filled with an appropriate wood filler
- Use Dulux Trade Stain Block Primer to seal in stains or powdery surfaces, if necessary
Always do a test area before starting any project to assess product suitability and final finish. Follow the manufacturer's instructions on the tin at all times.
- Stir thoroughly before and during use, making sure to include pigment gathered in the top and bottom creases of the tin
- Apply Dulux Trade Vinyl Matt with a good quality synthetic brush, microfibre roller, conventional spray or airless spray system
- Seal new or bare surfaces with a thinned first coat (up to 1 part clean water to 5 parts paint)
- The normal finishing process is 2 full coats, however previously painted surfaces in good condition may only require 1 coat
Thinning Guidelines
- Sealing new or bare surfaces: Add up to 1 part clean water to 5 parts paint
- Normal use (not to be exceeded): Add up to 1 part clean water to 10 parts paint
- Conventional spray application: Add up to 1 part clean water to 2.5 parts paint
- Airless spray application: Add up to 1 part clean water to 5 parts paint
