Dulux Trade Weathershield Exterior High Gloss is a solvent-based weather-resistant and flexible paint for exterior joinery and smooth planed wood. It can also be used on suitably primed metal and plastic. It contains a fungicide to inhibit mould growth on the paint film and help it stay fresher-looking for longer.
This product is designed to be part 3 of 3 of the Dulux Trade Weathershield system. In order to get the full protection advertised on the tin, all three products must be used in conjunction with each other. Dulux Trade Weathershield Preservative Primer, a suitable undercoat such as Dulux Trade Weathershield Exterior Flexible Undercoat, followed by this product, all three would all have to be used together.
- Prefer a water-based, quick drying system instead? Use Dulux Trade Weathershield Quick Dry Exterior Flexible Undercoat followed by Dulux Trade Weathershield Quick Dry Exterior Paint
To ensure the best results, ensure surfaces are sound, clean, dry and free of dirt, dust and other surface contaminants.
- Previously bare surfaces should have been treated with Dulux Trade Weathershield Preservative Primer, prior to undercoating
- All wooden surfaces to be treated should be undercoated with Dulux Trade Weathershield Exterior Flexible Undercoat, following all relevant instructions for this product
- New joinery is often factory primed using a stain basecoat (often called a dual-purpose primer). These materials very quickly erode when left exposed and often need to be re-primed
- When painting resinous wood or woodwork with a history of blistering it is advisable to use light colours only, particularly on south facing elevations
- Prime any metal surfaces with a suitable metal primer
Always do a test area before starting any project to test for compatibility and adhesion. Follow the manufacturer's instructions on the tin at all times.
- Stir the tin thoroughly before and periodically during use, making sure to include pigment gathered in the top and bottom creases of the tin
- Apply Dulux Trade Weathershield Gloss with a synthetic bristle brush only -this product is not suitable for spraying
- 1 coat is usually sufficient for most projects but further coats may be required, especially for a stronger colour change
- Allow 24 hours to dry
Dulux Weathershield Exterior High Gloss will protect surfaces against all weather conditions for up to 8 years. If after this time, the original coat starts to fade or wear, simply apply a fresh coat following the Preparation and Application instructions above.
