Little Greene Intelligent Matt Emulsion is a durable, water-based paint with a luxurious flat matt finish and beautiful depth of colour. Washable, scrubbable, and child-safe, it's perfect for busy family homes and an eco-friendly choice that doesn't compromise on quality.

Preparation
Preparation
For the best results, surfaces should be clean, dry, sound and free from grease or flaking paint before painting.
- Repair any surface imperfections with a suitable filler and sand back until smooth and even.
- Treat knots in softwood with a quality knotting solution to seal in natural resins and stop them from discolouring the finish
- Prepare any bare or corroded metal by removing loose material and rust, before sealing the surface with two coats of an appropriate metal primer
- Make sure new plaster has fully dried out before painting, and where appropriate, prepare the surface with a thinned coat of paint to act as a primer for better adhesion
- Thoroughly sand down any high-sheen or degraded surfaces to remove gloss and provide a key for the new coating before applying paint.

Application
Always carry out a small test patch before beginning your project to confirm the paint's suitability, shade accuracy, and the finish you'll achieve. Refer to the guidance printed on the tin throughout application.
Ensure the room is well ventilated during use and drying.
For consistent results, make sure you have enough paint from the same batch to complete the job, with extra kept aside for later touch-ups if needed.
- Stir the paint thoroughly before use and occasionally during application to keep colour and texture uniform
- On new plaster, dilute the first coat with 5-25% clean water before applying full coats
- Apply 2-3 coats of Little Greene Intelligent Matt Emulsion with a high-quality synthetic brush, roller, or spray equipment
- Allow between 1 and 4 hours for each coat to dry, depending on room temperature and airflow
- Where there is a strong colour change, further coats may be required for best coverage

To keep your Intelligent Matt Emulsion looking beautiful and performing at its best, follow these simple aftercare steps:
- Allow the paint to fully cure for 3-7 days before subjecting walls to heavy use or cleaning
- For light marks or everyday dirt, wipe gently with a soft sponge or cloth and a dilute solution of mild washing-up liquid
- Avoid strong abrasives, harsh cleaners, or scrubbing pads, as these can damage the matt surface
- Maintain good ventilation in high-moisture areas, such as kitchens and bathrooms, to minimise condensation build-up
- When vacuuming nearby surfaces, use a soft brush attachment to prevent scuffing painted walls
- For touch-ups or repairs, lightly sand the area, apply primer if needed, and repaint from edge to edge ("break to break") for the most seamless result
