Preparation
Preparation
For the best results, prepare all surfaces carefully before applying Little Greene Interior Oil Eggshell to achieve a smooth and durable finish.
- Remove any flaking, peeling or unstable coatings using a scraper, sander or suitable paint and varnish remover
- When working on older coatings applied before the 1960s, take special care as these may contain harmful lead
- Fill cracks or imperfections with a suitable filler, sand smooth, and wipe away dust before painting
- Seal knots in softwood with Aluminium Wood Primer; resinous hardwoods should also be treated before priming
- Sand existing paintwork with medium grade paper to provide a good key for adhesion
- On plastics, clean thoroughly, abrade to provide a key, and prime with a suitable primer for best performance
- Clean surfaces with a mild detergent solution such as sugar soap, rinse thoroughly and allow to dry
- For bare or corroded metals, remove rust and prime with two coats of a suitable primer
Application

Always test a small area before starting your project to confirm colour, finish and suitability. Follow the instructions on the tin for best results.
Apply only in well-ventilated areas and avoid painting when temperatures fall below 8°C.
For consistent colour and finish, purchase enough paint for the entire project, keeping extra for future touch-ups.
- Stir Little Greene Interior Oil Eggshell thoroughly before and during use to maintain even colour and consistency
- Apply 2 full coats using a high-quality natural bristle brush, foam roller, or by spray application
- Maintain a wet edge during application and finish with smooth, even strokes to prevent lap marks
- Allow a minimum of 16 hours between coats, depending on temperature and ventilation
- Lightly rub down between coats to remove dust and ensure a professional finish
- For significant colour changes, an additional coat or use of a primer may be required

- Allow the paint to fully cure before carrying out any cleaning or maintenance
- Remove everyday dust with a soft cloth, paper towel, or vacuum using a brush attachment
- For light marks, gently wipe with a damp sponge or cloth and a mild washing-up liquid solution
- Avoid abrasive cleaners or harsh scrubbing as these may damage the low sheen finish
- For a uniform look when repairing, repaint full panels or sections rather than attempting spot touch-ups
- Bookshelves, doors and other frequently handled areas may benefit from a very light application of wax polish for added long-term protection
