- A clear, durable, solvent-based oil for work tops and surrounding areas
- Can also be used on food preparation areas
- Easy re-application and maintenance
- Quick drying
If an oil finish remains for long after the suggested drying time, this is normally due to over-application. Very thin application and a wiping technique which removes the excess from an area and moving it onto the next untreated area is the best method to avoid over-saturation of the wood grain. It's this over-saturation which will lead to poor durability and extended drying times which will often remain tacky for days.
Manns Premier Top Oil is a premium grade, hard wax oil blended for use on work tops, chopping boards, butchers blocks, table tops or any food-preparation areas in the kitchen for a natural, yet durable, dirt and scuff resistant, natural matt finish. Protects from heat, liquid spills as well as scratches and scuffs from day to day use.
Oiling a worktop is the recommended option as they are much easier to maintain and repair in the long-term and can be easily patch repaired when accidents happen.
For the best results, ensure that surfaces painted are clean, dry and free of dirt, dust and grease.
- Previously oiled surfaces can just be lightly sanded with p120 sandpaper and wiped down with methylated spirit to remove all traces of sanding dust and degrease
- Any previous wax finishes should be completely removed with a suitable wax and polish remover
- Any previous paint, varnish or film-forming stains should be removed with a paint stripper and then sanded back to bare wood
- Lightly sand new or bare wood and remove all sanding dust with methylated spirit
- Fill any gaps and splits with a suitable filler
- Use a non-film forming wood stain if a colour change is required
Always try a test area before starting any project to assess compatibility of the final finish. Follow the manufacturer's instructions on the tin at all times.
- Stir thoroughly before and during use
- Working in small sections at a time, apply Manns Premier Top Oil sparingly in the direction of the grain with a high quality synthetic bristle brush
- Wipe away any excess with a microfibre cloth as you go, the surface should not be overly tacky if applied correctly
- Lightly sand or de-nib between coats with P180 sandpaper or abrasive pad, such as Woodley's Finishing Pads
- Apply a second coat of oil in the same manner as the first and allow to dry properly
When it's time for a refresh, simply apply a fresh coat of Manns Premier Door Oil as required, following the Preparation and Application instructions above.
General, day-to-day cleaning can be done with Manns Anti-Bacterial Cleaner Spray.
