Sandtex 10 Year Exterior Multi-Surface Gloss is designed to provide long lasting protection for a wide range of exterior surfaces. Its flexible, mould resistant finish helps resist cracking, peeling and flaking when used with Sandtex 10 Year Exterior Multi-Surface Primer Undercoat as part of a 2-step system.
Suitable for use on wood, weathered PVC-u, brick, concrete, stone, aluminium and non-ferrous metals, it provides a durable gloss finish for a variety of exterior projects around the home and garden. Ideal for doors, window frames, masonry, cladding and exterior trim, the flexible water based formulation helps maintain a smart, long lasting appearance on exterior surfaces.
If you would prefer a softer low sheen finish, see Sandtex 10 Year Exterior Multi-Surface Satin Paint, offering the same durable exterior protection with a more subtle appearance.
All surfaces must be clean, dry and free from dust, dirt, grease, wax, mould and loose material before application. Proper surface preparation will help improve adhesion, ensure an even finish and maximise the long term performance of the coating system.
- Remove all loose, flaking or peeling coatings and thoroughly abrade previously painted surfaces to provide a sound key for adhesion
- Weathered, grey or denatured timber should be sanded back to a clean, smooth surface before priming and painting
- Fill cracks, gaps and damaged areas with a suitable exterior grade filler, such as Sandtex Ready Mixed Masonry Filler and allow all repairs to fully dry before application
- For bare wood, ensure the timber is dry and treat knots or resinous areas with an appropriate knotting solution before coating
- Previously painted surfaces should be cleaned with a mild detergent solution, rinsed thoroughly and allowed to dry before painting
- Non-ferrous metal surfaces, excluding galvanised metal, should be thoroughly abraded and cleaned to remove grease, oxidation and surface contamination
- Powdery, chalky and friable surfaces should be stabilised using Sandtex Quick Drying Stabilising Solution
- Carefully remove all sanding dust and debris before priming with Sandtex 10 Year Exterior Multi-Surface Primer Undercoat for best results and long lasting protection
Always do a test area before starting any project to check suitability and compatibility. Ensure all prepared surfaces are clean, dry and fully primed before application, following the manufacturer's instructions on the container at all times.
- Stir thoroughly before and during use to maintain an even consistency and colour throughout application
- Apply using a good quality synthetic brush or a short to medium pile roller for a smooth, even finish
- Apply evenly and avoid overspreading the paint, particularly on absorbent or textured surfaces
- For best results, apply 2-3 coats, allowing approximately 6 hours drying time between coats and ensuring each coat is fully dry before recoating
- Do not apply in temperatures below 8°C, during damp conditions or when high humidity may affect drying performance
- If using more than one tin in the same area, intermix the paint in a larger container to help maintain colour consistency
- Avoid application during rain, frost or where rain is expected before the coating has fully dried
- When applied in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions, the coating system provides up to 10 years exterior protection
Once fully cured, Sandtex 10 Year Exterior Multi-Surface Gloss Paint provides a durable, weather resistant gloss finish designed to help protect exterior surfaces from the effects of rain, moisture and general weathering. Regular inspection and basic maintenance will help keep exterior surfaces looking clean, smart and well protected for longer.
Clean painted surfaces periodically using a soft cloth or sponge with warm water and a mild detergent solution to remove dirt, traffic film and general surface contamination. Avoid abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals that may affect the gloss finish. Damaged or heavily weathered areas should be lightly sanded, suitably prepared and recoated as required to maintain long term appearance and protection.
