Ensure that surfaces to be painted with Dulux Once Gloss Paint are clean, dry and free from any dust, dirt, grease or any other surface contaminants.
- Remove any flaking or defective paint with a paint scraper or wire brush. Rub down sound coating with P120 sandpaper for a key on the surface to aid adhesion and remove any dust with a slightly damp lint-free cloth
- Special precautions should be taken during surface preparation of pre-1960s painted surfaces as they may contain harmful lead
- For exterior surfaces, remove any mould, algae or fungus with a dedicated mould and mildew cleaner
- Fill any holes or gaps in the wood with a suitable wood filler
Always try a test area before starting any project to assess compatibility of the final finish. Follow the manufacturer's instructions on the tin at all times.
- Apply Once Gloss using a high-quality synthetic bristle paint brush, following the direction of the wood grain
- Apply a full flowing generous coat, being careful not to spread too far, or a second coat may be required, particularly when a severe colour change is required
- Allow 16 hours to dry
- Newly painted doors and windows should not be closed and radiators should not be heated until paint is fully dry.
Painted surfaces can be gently wiped down with a damp lint-free cloth to remove surface scuffs and marks.
When it’s time for a refresh, apply a fresh coat of Dulux Once Gloss using the Preparation and Application steps above.
