Dulux Trade Mouldshield Fungicidal Matt is a trade quality matt emulsion for interior walls and ceilings in those areas where mould and fungi growth is an issue, such as kitchens and bathrooms. It’s great for bare or previously painted walls. It’s tested to BS 3900, part G6 which covers protection against a broad range of fungal species commonly found in contact with painted surfaces.
Where frequent, heavy condensation is likely, Dulux Trade Mouldshield Fungicidal Eggshell is recommended instead.
For best results, ensure surfaces to be painted are sound, clean, dry and free from dirt, dust or any other surface contaminants.
- Remove any loose or defective paint with a paint scraper by sanding or using a dedicated paint stripper
- Special precautions should be taken during preparation of pre-1960s paint surfaces as they may contain harmful amounts of lead
- Remove any pre-existing mould and mildew with an appropriate cleaner
- Where possible, wash the surface to remove dirt, grime and dust, rinse and allow the surface to dry thoroughly
- Fill any surface defects with an appropriate filler, sand smooth and remove dust with a lint-free cloth
- Use Dulux Trade Stain Block Primer to seal in any stained or powdery surfaces
Always do a test area before starting any project to assess product suitability and final finish. Follow the manufacturer's instructions on the tin at all times.
- Stir the paint thoroughly before and periodically during use, making sure to include pigment gathered in the top and bottom creases of the tin
- Seal new or bare surfaces with a thinned first coat of Dulux Trade Mouldshield Fungicidal Matt (see thinning guidelines below)
- Apply using a high quality synthetic brush or microfibre roller
- Allow 2 - 4 hours drying time between coats
- The usual finishing process is 2 full coats, however previously painted surfaces in good condition may only require one coat, depending on the colour being applied
Thinning Guidelines
- Sealing new or bare surfaces: Add up to 1 part clean water to 5 parts paint
- Normal use (not to be exceeded): Add up to 1 part clean water to 10 parts paint
Painted surfaces can be gently wiped down with a damp lint-free cloth to remove surface scuffs and marks.
When it's time for a refresh, apply a fresh coat of Dulux Trade Fungicidal Matt Paint using the Preparation and Application steps above.
Please note: For Health & Safety reasons, spray application is not recommended when using fungicidal paints.
