Earthborn Eco Chic is a highly versatile water-based clay paint. Perfect for upcycling and sprucing up furniture. Available in a wide range of colours so you can let your imagination run wild and be creative. There's no need to prime most projects, so along with its quick drying formula, it makes updating furniture so simple! It's breathable, acrylic and oil free, child and baby safe, virtually VOC free and vegan friendly.
In the Earthborn paint ranges, there are two white colours. This is because claypaint contains a high level of clay and much less Titanium Dioxide than conventional white emulsions. This results in Eco Chic paint "White Clay" having a uniquely softer, creamy look. For those who are looking for a brighter white, we'd suggest Earthborn Eggshell No. 17 Paint in "White" for trim, skirting boards, doors and other planed surfaces.
- See Earthborn Claypaint for the same luxurious, ultra matt, clay finish for walls and ceilings.
Please note: Colour mixing cut off is 4pm for same day dispatch. This product is mixed to order, so unfortunately you cannot return your unique paint, except for the colours below:
- Flower Pot
- Freckle
- Humpty Dumpty
- Marbles
- White Clay
To achieve the best results with Earthborn paints, make sure the surfaces are structurally sound, free of imperfections such as dust dirt or any other surface contaminants.
- Previously painted furniture should be lightly sanded for a key. No need to prime
- If painting directly onto untreated wood, prime with Earthborn Eco Chic Clay Paint, thinned with 20% water
- Where a strong colour change is required, use a coat of Earthborn Multi Purpose Primer
- For any bare melamine or MDF, Earthborn Multi Purpose Primer should also be applied
- For areas where heavy stains that will bleed through your paint are present (such as water and nicotine), prime with Earthborn Isolating Primer
Always do a test area before starting any project to assess product suitability and final finish. Follow the manufacturer's instructions on the tin at all times.
This is a natural product, there may be occasions where subtle variations in shade between batches occur. It's recommended to avoid starting a new container of paint in the middle of a project. When painting a large area, where possible, pour the required number of tins into a single container and mix thoroughly.
- Stir the paint thoroughly before and periodically during use, making sure to include pigment gathered in the top and bottom creases of the tin
- Apply thinly and evenly with a clean and dry synthetic brush, microfibre roller or spray applicator
- Allow to dry for 6 to 12 hours before a successive coat is applied
- On paler, smoother surfaces, 1 coat is normally adequate, for a significant change of colour, extra coats may be required
For extra protection, Earthborn Eco Chic can be finished with a perfectly clear varnish, lacquer or wax.
Surfaces should be wipeable after about 10 days. If marked, simply wipe it down with a slightly dampened, lint-free cloth. It is also often possible to remove surface marks using a pencil eraser or very fine emery paper.
If the finish begins to look worn over time, simply apply a fresh coat of Earthborn Eco Chic, following the Application instructions above.
