When used correctly, they allow you to see how a shade looks in your space under different lighting conditions and alongside existing décor. Testing first reduces the risk of choosing the wrong colour and gives you confidence in your final decision. For best results, tester paint should be applied to a movable surface rather than directly onto the wall, allowing you to assess the colour throughout the room.

- Stir thoroughly - Mix well to ensure true colour and consistent finish.
- Label samples - Write colour names or codes on each sample to avoid mix-ups.

- Two thin coats - Allow each coat to dry fully to reveal the true colour.
- Check in different light - View samples in bright, shaded and artificial lighting.
- Review over time - Look at the colour throughout the day before deciding. Move the paints swatches into different positions so you can see how they look against window frames, alongside furniture and in different lighting.
