Little Greene Intelligent Gloss is a durable, water-based paint with a sleek high-gloss finish. It offers excellent adhesion, quick drying, and low odour, making it suitable for interior and exterior woodwork, metal, and trim, as well as radiators. Tough, washable, and eco-conscious, it combines modern performance with a classic reflective style.
For a durable satin finish, choose Little Greene Intelligent Satin.
For best results, make sure all surfaces are sound, clean, dry, and free from dust, grease, or contaminants before painting.
- Remove any loose, flaking, or defective paint with a scraper, sander, or suitable paint remover
- Wash down with a mild detergent or sugar soap solution , rinse thoroughly, and allow to dry
- Sand glossy or previously painted surfaces to provide a uniform key, feathering edges smoothly
- On new wood, seal knots with a suitable knotting solution before priming
- Prime bare softwood with Little Greene Intelligent ASP; resinous or oily hardwoods may require Aluminium Wood Primer for best adhesion
- On metal, remove all rust and scale, then prime bare steel or iron with two coats of a suitable primer
- On plastics, clean thoroughly and abrade lightly to provide a key before priming
- Ensure timber moisture content is below 15% before painting to avoid premature failure
Always test a small area before starting any project to confirm colour, finish, and suitability. Stir thoroughly before and during use, and follow the manufacturer's instructions at all times. Use only in well-ventilated areas.
- Apply 2-3 full coats of Little Greene Intelligent Gloss using a high-quality synthetic brush, short-nap roller, or spray system
- Maintain a wet edge and keep final strokes in the same direction for the best finish
- Allow 6 hours drying time between coats, depending on temperature and ventilation
- For intricate items or in hot/dry conditions, extend open time by adding up to 10-15% clean water
- On new wood, apply over a suitable primer and undercoat before finishing with Intelligent Gloss
- Lightly denib between coats to remove dust nibs and achieve a smooth, professional-looking finish
For best colour consistency, purchase enough paint for the whole project, including extra for future touch-ups.
To keep your painted surfaces looking their best, follow these simple aftercare steps:
- Allow the paint to fully cure for 3-7 days before subjecting surfaces to heavy use or cleaning
- Clean light marks or dirt with lukewarm water and a mild detergent using a soft cloth or sponge
- Avoid abrasive cleaners, strong chemicals, or scrubbing pads that could damage the high-gloss finish
- Let radiators cool completely before wiping to prevent polishing or streaking
- For repairs, lightly sand the area, spot-prime if needed, and repaint break to break for a seamless finish
