Osmo Garden Colour is a quick-drying, water-based option for exterior timber. Great protection from weathering and harmful UV rays. Ideal for projects such as fencing, pergolas, garden sheds and other exterior garden joinery.
- Prefer an oil-based finish instead? Try Osmo Country Colour
Please note: this product is not suitable for projects made from Idigbo or areas that take footfall, such as steps or decking.
Most wood types, including pressure treated timber will need a weathering period of between 6-12 weeks after installation before treatment with Osmo Garden Colour, consult the supplier of your timber for exact information before carrying out treatment.
- For the best results, ensure that surfaces to be treated are clean, dry and free of dirt, dust and grease.
- All previous paints, varnish and other coatings should be completely removed before treatment
- Existing, older microporous treatments such as oil or preservative only require a light sanding
- Fill any cracks, splits or holes with a suitable wood filler
- Use a compatible wood preservative on bare timber
- With the lighter colour options in this range, a water-based, exterior primer is recommended for complete coverage
Always try a test area before starting any project to assess compatibility of the final finish. Follow the manufacturer's instructions on the tin at all times. Do not apply to wet wood or if inclement weather is expected. This product is ready to use directly from the tin, do not thin.
- Stir thoroughly before and during use, making sure to reach the pigment in the top and bottom creases of the tin
- Working in smaller, manageable areas, apply very thinly using Osmo Soft Tip Brush or Osmo Premium Roller, Brush and Tray Set
- On suitably primed or previously treated surfaces, 1 coat may be sufficient, further coats may be required on bare wood or for strong colour changes
- Allow 3-4 hours to dry
- If a second coat is required, abrade the surface area with very fine sandpaper (p240) for adhesion, remove all sanding dust and then apply as above
Inspect regularly for imperfections. Maintenance should only be carried out when the surface looks tired and worn.
When it's time for a refresh, simply apply a fresh coat of Osmo Garden Colour as required, making sure the surface to be painted is nice and clean and clear of dirt and other surface contaminants. Apply one fresh, new coat to the affected areas. Any patchy or flaky areas should be taken back to bare and treated as such.
