This product is listed as multi-surface, however it's not suitable for use on galvanised metal, stainless steel, cast iron, floors or any areas that receive foot traffic, such as decking.
- For interior surfaces, use Ronseal One Coat All Surface Primer and Undercoat
- For a dedicated, flexible primer for wood, see Ronseal Super Flexible Primer and Undercoat
For the best results, ensure surfaces to be painted are sound, clean, dry and free from dirt, dust or any other surface contaminants.
Bare Wood
- Lightly sand bare wood in the direction of the wood grain
- Old, decayed or loose wood must be removed before priming
- Fill any gaps in the wood with a suitable filler, such as Ronseal High Performance Wood Filler
- Treat with a suitable wood preserver if required
Previously Painted Wood
- Previously painted wood should be lightly sanded for a key
- Remove any flaking or defective coatings back to bare wood and treat as bare wood
Brick, Terracotta and Stone
- Remove any loose dirt with either a jet wash or with a stiff brush and warm water and then allow to dry properly
Metal
- Use a wire brush to remove any loose rust, grease and general dirt and grime
- Wash the surface down with white spirit and allow to dry fully
- Do not use on galvanised metal, stainless steel and cast iron
Always do a test area before starting any project to assess product suitability. Always follow the manufacturer's instructions on the tin. Use only in well-ventilated areas.
- Stir thoroughly before and during use, making sure to include pigment gathered in the top and bottom creases of the tin
- Use a high-quality synthetic bristle brush to apply 2 coats, allowing 4 hours drying time between coats and before a suitable topcoat is applied
- Finish with a suitable topcoat, such as Ronseal Garden Paint
Once fully dry, wooden surfaces primed with Ronseal All Surface Primer and Undercoat are ready to be over-coated with a suitable wood paint.
