Preparation
Preparation
For the best results, ensure surfaces to be painted are sound, clean, dry and free from dirt, dust or any other surface contaminants.
- Treat any active mould and mildew with a suitable fungicidal cleaner
- Fill any cracks or splits with a suitable filler
- Lightly sand any bare, rough wood and metal and prime with Rust-Oleum Surface Primer
- Previously painted areas generally do not need priming but a light sand to aid adhesion is required
Application
Application
Always do a test area of Rust-Oleum Painters Touch Multi-Purpose Paint before starting any project to assess product suitability. Always follow the manufacturer's instructions on the tin. Use only in well-ventilated areas.
- Shake the can until it starts rattling, then continue for a further minute
- Hold the can around 20cm away from the surface and spray in a long, sweeping motion
- Hold the can upside down and spray out any residual paint in the nozzle for 2-3 seconds and wipe clean with a damp cloth
- Apply 1-2 coats, allowing 5-10 mins between coats
- With each coat, the colour and sheen level will improve
- Allow to dry fully for an hour before re-installation or resuming use
