Sadolin Beautiflex is a solvent based woodstain for all types of exterior projects including doors, window frames, cladding and decking. This microporous coating flexes and moves with the substrate, resisting any cracking, peeling and flaking. It can be applied to new and previously painted or stained surfaces and is best used where a complete change of colour is required or where the wood surface has become weathered and uneven in appearance.
Sadolin suggests this product can offer up to 7 years protection. This excludes decking.
- Prefer a water-based finish instead? See Sadolin Superdec Opaque Wood Protection
For the best results, ensure surfaces to be painted are sound, clean, dry and free from dirt, dust or any other surface contaminants.
This product should not be used over oiled finishes or preservatives that have a wax-repellent coating.
- Wipe down any resinous deposits surrounding knots in the timber with methylated spirits, knotting agents should not be used
- Organic growth must be treated with a suitable fungicidal cleaner
- Fill all holes and surface defects with a suitable filler
- Treat all bare wood with a suitable wax-free preservative prior to application
- Lightly sand all previously painted wood for adhesion without breaking the coating
- Remove any failing or defective coatings with a scraper or by sanding, strip back completely and treat as bare wood
- Remove any weathered timber with light sanding and treat as bare wood
- For best results with decking boards, coat all round, including end-grain and underside faces with Sadolin Beautiflex Opaque Woodstain
Always do a test area before starting any project to assess product suitability. Always follow the manufacturer's instructions on the tin. Use only in well-ventilated areas. Do not apply if there is a risk of rain. Protect from frost and rain until dry. Do not thin.
- Stir thoroughly before and during use, making sure to include pigment gathered in the top and bottom creases of the tin
- Apply 2 full, flowing coats of Sadolin Beautiflex using a high quality, synthetic bristle brush, paying attention to all sides of projects, including the top and underside areas of doors and sills etc for maximum protection
- Further coats may be required for projects with a stronger colour change
- Allow 16-24 hours drying between coats
- Where possible, the first coat should be applied prior to installation or fixing
When it's time for a refresh, simply apply a fresh coat of Sadolin Beautiflex, following the Preparation and Application instructions above.
